This was fun, weird, and an interesting concept. I was pretty sure there was a ghost doing a lot of the things at the beginning. So I didn't see the twist coming, but I was also too busy trying to figure out the bats. I have a solid theory for this. This was more reminiscent of Fear Street, so there was a fair bit of nostalgia in this, as well as the love misfits teenagers spending time in a graveyard. It has the usual young adult set up that is tried and true. So I should have seen the twist coming, but I was wrapped up in what was going on in the town itself! I already have the second book hold to see if my big picture theory pans out.
The Creature of the Black Lagoon is my favorite of all of the Universal Studios Monsters. So I've been so excited to get my hands on this one. What I loved about this was that it takes place thirty years after the original story. So there are still elements of the original story, but it also allows for a new story to be told. I also really loved the color palette that was used with the purple tones. As a fan of this monster, I was also a fan of this adaptation. So far, this series hasn't disappointed me!
HAPPY READING!!
