Okay, so I know I'm behind by two books, but in my defense the first book hurt. Which is no excuse because Red Rising was amazing and I need to suck it up! Also, because the fourth book is out today!! Which means now I'm three books behind.. Story of my life. But, if you haven't checked this series out, I cannot recommend it enough. If you need me I'll be in the corner finally finishing this series crying into the pages.

I feel like all of these are obtainable by the end of the year. Though I'm a little nervous about reading 55 books. I got close that last year, but it's a challenge for a reason! Good luck to everyone on their goals!

Bout of Books 21 Wrap-up

Well that's a wrap folks! First read-a-thon of the year is down and with awesome results on my end. The weekend was a little rough on the reading front because work was busy. Still I managed a handful of pages and that is all that matters. I hope everyone had a great weak reading!! And if you missed this round of Bout of Books, it'll be back in May from the 14th and 20th. Now onto some stats!

I'm halfway through The Further Adventure of Sherlock Holmes: the Man from Hell and the Crown Tower. Hoping I can finish Sherlock on the bus going to and from my shift since it is my bus book. My plan is curl up on my next day off and finish Crown Tower. I think this is the first time I've read a stack, albeit a small stack, of books during Bout of Books. It was awesome! Can't wait to see however else do it!!  See everyone in May!

Mini Reviews

One of my goals for Bookish Whispers was to review more of things that I read. Which basically meant for me to review the Graphic Novels by volume and not wait until I finished the series. Mostly because I good number of the ones I'm reading are either still on going, or there are a few volumes to read between books. Personally I never felt I had enough to say to warrant a full review so this year I thought I'd do small reviews of the Graphic Novels I finish throughout the year. And, maybe a few novellas will slip in here and there.

Okay, so this issue sneaked up on me. I was unaware that there was going to be another volume to I Hate Fairyland, let alone that it had come out in October of 2017. But, the knowledge couldn't have come had a better time. It was an amazing start to my year of reading! Gert is back, and still looking for a way home, and wouldn't you know Larry was holding out on her. It's everything I loved about the first two volumes. In so many ways Gert is my spirit animal and my fingers are crossed that this wasn't the last we've seen of Fairyland!

I love the Anno Dracula Series, and I do not have the words to describe how excited I am that it's got a Graphic Novel. It was so cool to have actual faces to characters I love, and it was a great way to help ease my patience for the next book. It was everything I love about the series but with an added bonus of amazing art by Paul Mccaffrey. The story was amazing and a great way to slide back into the Anno Dracula world. Totally worth the wait, but definitely one I'll be adding to my collection so I can re-read it again.

Oh my gosh! This, right here, is my life! Only I don't have an adorable little bunny, but two felines who judge my life choices. Adulthood is a Myth was hilarious and I laughed out loud several times. The artwork was adorable! Why did I wait so long to pick this up?! It's so good to know I'm not the only who decides to wear the same hoodie day in, and day out, and that someone else hates putting away laundry as much as I do. This was so much fun!

Tackle TBR

So this year my flatmate and decided it was time to read through the physical books we own. Mostly because if we don't the books might over take us, or my cat will finally eat a whole one in the middle of the middle night when he wants fed. Which means for the two months no books from the library, and no buying books. For two straight months we'll read only the books we own that have been sitting on our TBRs for at least a year, or longer. I had the smart idea of turning this into a blog event for Bookish Whispers.

Here are the Guidelines:

• Books have to be ones we physically own (which includes any Kindle books)
• I'll be posting my weekly stats on what I've read, reading, and if anything was DNF'ed

We waited for the 12th of January so we could finish off what we already had checked out from the library before starting. If anyone wants to join up, you are more than welcome, just link up in the comments.

Finally the time as come! Tony Cliff has announced anther addition to the Delilah Dirk Series. Book 3 is coming out in August. Which in my opinion is way too long to wait, but if you've never read anything about Delilah Dirk, you're seriously missing out! It's an amazing series and you can catch up Tony Cliff's blog for Delilah Dirk, here. In the meantime I think it's time for a quick reread of the Turkish Lieutenant and the King's Shilling.

2018 Bookish Resolution and Goals

I've sort of gone back and forth whether to throw my hat in the lot and do a post of goals and resolutions for this year. In the end as you can see I decided to finally gather something together. My theory is if I write it down maybe I'll actually stick it, because I didn't read nearly as much as I should have last year. I fell into a Netflix hole. So this year something new. 

2 BINGOs this year! This last year I danced around our BINGO board and didn't manage a single one, but this year I don't want to do that. We've got some really good squares this year. So this year I'm starting out small. Two BINGOs!

Last year I managed to read 53 years books. Which shocked the hell out of me, because when I set my goal last year I thought it wasn't something I'd be able to do. Oddly enough I managed. So this year I though, why not. So I want to read 55 books before year end. Wish me luck!

Okay so honestly I didn't make a lot of them, and I don't feel bad about it. The point of these is to be able achieve them. So I kept them small and simple, but things I need to take care of.

• Spend 2 months reading through my physically TBR.
• Review more.
• Comment more on blogs I follow.
• 2 Discussion post by the end of 2018

December Wrap Up

It's hard to believe that 2017 is officially over, but here I sit at the start of a new year writing my last wrap up for 2017. It's been an interesting year in our place. From meeting one of my childhood heroes to having my car stolen twice. It's definitely been a year of growing. My position at work changed and I was given more responsibilities. The new roll has left me exhausted and stressed, but I've survived it. This year I'm hoping to get my life more organized to keep that from happening know that I have a grasp of the  new roll. Which should leave more time for me to read. 

The Holiday were a blast for us. It started with a house full of friends on Thanksgiving to decorating our place for Christmas. Then it was all about enjoying Christmas between work. We had a friend over before the start of the Holiday weekend, and pretty boring and quiet Christmas Eve and Christmas.

I'm looking forward to 2018. For the new books its bringing, new adventures, and hopefully a chance to meet another childhood hero of mine.

Cover Release - My Grave Ritual

This has been one my favorite discoveries over the last couple of years. I stumbled across the first book, A Study in Brimstone, two years ago at my local library. I'd been seeing the book a lot, but I hadn't ever picked up. Since I had some time to spare over my lunch break that day I went out on a limb and added it to my pile. Best decision ever! The second book, The Hell-hound of the Baskervilles was released last year and was just as good! You can click both titles to see my reviews of both books. But, this post isn't about them, it's about the next book in the series. Coming out this year, but not soon enough, is Warlock Holmes: My Grave Ritual will be released. And it finally has a cover! I cannot wait to see it sitting on mantel with the other first two books!

Warlock Holmes and Dr John Watson find themselves inconvenienced by a variety of eldritch beings, and the fact that one of them has goat legs. Christmas brings a goose that doesn't let being cooked slow him down, then they meet an electricity demon, discover why being a redhead is even trickier than one might imagine, and Holmes attempts an Irish accent. And naturally Moriarty is hanging around in some form or other.
