October Spotlight

 

I cannot believe it's October, somehow September just flew by, but here we are and that means another Spotlight book! This month I chose the second book in the Clue Mystery series, In The Study With the Wrench. I read the first book over the summer and it was a really fun and cute read. The characters were fun and the plot was full of the YA high school drama with a bit a mystery thrown in. Parts of the story were left in a cliff hanger, and I have a few ideas on how those pieces will pan out. So I'm excited to get my hands on the next book in the series. While not a spooky read for a spooky month, it is a fun read that I feel is great for any young reader that loves mysteries. Or, you know older reader who wants a quick and fun mystery. My copy is currently on hold at the library. It'll probably be a nice break from my spooky reads I have set for this month.

In the aftermath of Headmaster Boddy’s murder, Blackbrook Academy has been thrown into complete disarray. Half the student body hasn’t bothered to return to campus—but those who have include Orchid, Vaughn, Scarlett, Peacock, Plum, and Mustard, now warily referred to by the other students as the Murder Crew. When another staff member is found dead and an anonymous threat begins to target the group, each of the teens' opportunistic reasons for sticking around come to light. Orchid’s identity comes under question while Vaughn’s family life takes a turn; Finn and Mustard grow closer; and Scarlett and Beth struggle to turn over new leaves.
